Cultural Map of Wisconsin [Map] : a Cartographic Portrait of the State
This map shows roads, lakes, points of interest including colleges, trails, historic communities and sites, museums, and parks. Also included are descriptive notes for points of interest. The lower right margin includes an illustration and reads: "Wisconsin’s history, culture, land & people, more than 1200 sites of interest." The reverse includes sixteen local area cultural maps and six state thematic maps emphasizing connections between landscapes and cultures. Local maps include Superior, Eau Claire, Wausau, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Appleton, Manitowoc and Two Rivers, Sheboygan and Kohler, La Crosse, Madison, Stevens Point Janesville and Beloit, Kenosha and Racine, Milwaukee, and downtown Milwaukee. Thematic maps include Economic Regions of Wisconsin, the Ethnic Pattern, ca. 1940, The Advance of the Euro-American Settlement Frontier, 1830-1920, Native American Settlement, ca. 1830, Wisconsin Vegetation, and Glaciation and Wisconsin Landscapes. Images are also included. |
