This six sheet large format map is one of the most informative maps of its time. It shows cities, Native American land, lakes, rivers, mountains, topographical features. Extensive and detailed notes on various explorers, their routes, and their discoveries appear throughout the Oceans, accompanied by an illustration of the associated ship. The treatment of the north west coast of America is impressive for this period. Alaska appears as an island, labeled Alaschka. Furthermore, charts throughout the map compare astronomical observations and locations of various discoveries, islands, and regions of this map and those of Bellin and D'Anville.
