New England, New York, New Jersey and Pensilvania

New England, New York, New Jersey and Pensilvania | Map or Atlas | Wisconsin Historical Society
Map of the north east coast of America, showing colonial borders, cities, Native American land, lakes, rivers, and a few hills and mountains. Illustrated trees cover much of Pensylvania, New York, and northern New England to represent wilderness. Ships wage a navel battle in a small vignette in the lower right corner. Most important, however, this map is one of the earliest post road maps, showing the road (a double line, slightly faded in this particular copy) leading out from Portsmouth, New Hampshire down the coast through New York and into East and West New Jersey.
