| Title: |
Capitol Interior - Office of Historical Society Librarian |
| Description: |
Emma Hawley, a Historical Society librarian, at her desk in the South Wing of the third Wisconsin State Capitol. After the Society purchased its first typewriter, Miss Hawley invented a device to accommodate catalog cards. Leaning forward in a chair that must have been uncomfortable for typing, she also permits us to better see the Eastlake style of her cane chair. This photograph was taken by Reuben Gold Thwaites, secretary of the Historical Society and an avid amateur photographer, using his new round-format Kodak 2 camera.
