In an email 4/6/09 from Bob Frank: "I believe [this] is a picture of my Grandmother, Regina Valentine Frank. She was born in 1896 in Cross Plains and lived there her entire life. She lived in a house that can be seen in Image ID: 30125. It is the white house at the right hand side of that picture. The picture of her chopping wood was taken behind her house." This collection is snapshots of small town life, ca. 1917-1924, from the portrait studio of Matthew Witt where photo-finishing for others was also done. Images consist of people engaged in various daily and leisure activities. The image appeared in the March section of the 1980 Wisconsin Historical Calendar. |
