The University of Wisconsin Class of 1876 photographed on the lawn in front of Main Hall (later Bascom Hall). Prominent members of the class included Richard B. Dudgeon (back row, second from the left), who would become Madison's superintendent of schools, his sister Emma Dudgeon (back row, third from the left), who would become a teacher at Longfellow School in Madison, and Helen Remington (front row, sixth woman from the left), who would become the head of the Wisconsin Woman's Suffrage Association and wife of John Olin. |
