Wikipedia.com (02/29-2008): Carrie Clinton Lane was born January 9, 1859, in Ripon, Wisconsin. She spent her childhood in Charles City, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She became a teacher and then superintendent of schools in Mason City, Iowa in 1883. In 1885 Catt married newspaper editor Leo Chapman, but he died in California soon after. Carrie died March 9, 1947, in New Rochelle, New York. Leo Chapman died in 1886. In 1890 she married George Catt, a former college classmate. George Catt died in 1904. Carrie Chapman Catt had no children. Cause of death: Heart attack at the age of 88. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx County, New York.
