627 North Lake Street.  A cyanotype view looking northeast at the intersection of Lake Street and Mendota Court.  This house was built in 1892 for the Chi Psi fraternity, previously located at 602 North Frances Street.  Chi Psi remained here until 1909.  From 1913 until its demolition in 1924-1925, the house was occupied by the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.  The site was earlier used in 1853 by Daniel Gorham as the location for his steam sawmill.  It was replatted for residential use in 1890.  Visible at right is the Delta Tau Delta chapter house, 621 North Lake Street.  Visible in right foreground is another fraternity house located at 616 Mendota Court.
