Photograph taken for International Harvester's Agricultural Extension Department. Folder: Dairying The photograph caption reads: "This picture shows a southern home and a southern type of a milk cow and the way they handle the milk cow in the south. Why not have a good cow in the place of this kind of a cow (sic). It used to be the idea of some people that any kind of a cow brute that gives milk will do for a milk cow. It cost (sic) just as much to keep this cow as it would a good one, yet you get very little milk and the calf is of no account, but of course, you better have this kind of a cow than no cow at all. She will furnish you enough cream for the coffee, and may maybe make a little butter." |
