Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" Airplane in Flight
| A Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" airplane / biplane in flight over the Weber Farm south of Lake Monona. Titled in the album "The First Aeroplane in Madison". "The feature of the flight was the delivery of a letter to Postmaster Devine from Pres. William F. Brooks of the Minneapolis Aero Club. This is the first aerial letter ever received in Madison and the first aerial postage stamp ever received here. The flyers are returning from a 3,000 mile run and have been making exhibition flights at state fairs." The Capital Times 9-4-1918. One of five airplane images taken over a two day period. |

| The Richard & Georgia Lloyd Jones Sr. family photo album was donated to the WHS by their granddaughter Georgia Lloyd Jones Snoke. Richard Lloyd Jones Sr. was editor and publisher of the Wisconsin State Journal from 1911 to 1919. In the late summer of 1919 the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Richard had purchased the Tulsa Democrat, renaming it the Tulsa Tribune, and served as its editor and publisher until his retirement. |
