On April 10th, 1937, Max Nohl (shown in the dive suit) along with John Craig made a dive on the shipwreck Norland in order to perform another early test of the newly designed diving suit in conjunction with testing the helium-oxygen mixture that Dr. End and Max had been working on. The dive took place off the deck of the Coast Guard cutter Antietam about five miles out from Milwaukee's breakwater. The dive was broadcast by WTMJ over the NBC-Blue network and represented the first underwater broadcast every made. As a result of this dive and many other experiments, Max Nohl was able to set a new record deep dive in Lake Michigan on December 1, 1937.
