Text on back reads, "ANCONA, This is a city of Italy, situated on the Adriatic, 185 miles N.E. of Rome. It is the capital if the Province of Ancona, possesses the only good port on that side of the Adriatic, between Venice and Manfredonia, and is an entrépot for European goods for the Levant. Ancona was founded by a Doric Colony about 400 B.C. It has very many interesting buildings and relics of antiquity, among which is the Triumphal Arch of Trajan, of Parian Marble. Our picture, from a photo taken on the spot, represents an Ancona home scene, in which our Singer Machine plays its part, as it does in thousands of other Ancona homes." |
