The original caption reads: "These photographs show equipment used by the Mineral Mining Corporation to operate a gold and mica mine near Lancaster, South Carolina. At the time photographs were taken (August, 1938), a P-40 was just being rigged up, as shown, to operate generator which was to supply power for machinery in crushing mill, lights, and 5-h.p. pump in mine, which was 200 feet deep. There also was a P-30, which had just been set aside and which had been used to operate hoist, air compressor, and ball mill screen. This was to be replaced with a larger unit. There was some uncertainty about this project, and no article has thus far been written (March, 1939). A recheck will be made later." |
