The Bursting of the Secession Bubbles
Jefferson Davis, seated on the floor, is blowing bubbles and General Winfield Scott, standing, is bursting them with his sword. The soap dish on a table in front of Davis is labeled "SOFT SOAP" and the figure of Davis has "JD" on his pants. Each bubble has the initials of a Confederate state on it. "KY," "MD," "DEL" and "MO" have burst and the rest are still intact. The caption above reads "THE BURSTING OF THE" and below reads "SECESSION BUBBLES." Black ink on gold envelope, image on left side. |
