Anders J. Burke [Bjerke]
Head and shoulders oval studio portrait of Anders J. Burke, a private in Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Koshkonong, Wisconsin. On February 2, 1862, he enlisted and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 26. There are no records of any wounds received, but in May 1863, he was sent to a convalescent camp near Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Through General Order #352, the War Department transferred Anders J. Bruke into the Veterans Reserve Corps (V.R.C) [also known as the Invalid Corps] on October 4, 1863, under the name Private Andrew Burey. |
