Vignetted quarter-length cabinet card portrait of Peter Olson [as written on published Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1 and Regimental Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20; also written as Peter Ofstedal on card backing of portrait], a private in Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Christiana, Wisconsin. On December 10, 1861, he enlisted and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on November 16, 1862, at the age of 19. After spending a number of months in hospitals in Mississippi he was discharged on September 26, 1862, at St. Louis, Missouri for disability and mustered out of service on September 20, 1862. |
