Herman Thoreson
Seated, waist-up cabinet card portrait of Herman Thoreson a private in Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry wearing uniform and with a musket across his lap. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Pleasant Spring, Wisconsin. On November 16, 1861, he enlisted and was eventually mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on December 2, 1861, at the age of 35. Thoreson was captured during the battle at Stone River, Tennessee. He was a paroled prisoner of war at Camp Chase, Ohio and was exchanged on May 1, 1863, to resume active military service. Thoreson was mustered out of service with Company B on December 2, 1864 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. |
