Svend Torgerson
Three-quarter length oval studio portrait of Svend Torgerson, a private in Company D, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. On November 11, 1864, he enlisted at Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on December 8, 1861, at the age of 19. He fought at Stone River, Tennessee and went missing in action until he rejoined Company D on January 11, 1863. Later, he served as a guard with a supply train going to Stevenson, Alabama. He was mustered out with Company D on February 13, 1865, at Chattanooga, Tennessee. |
