Ole Evenson Luten
Waist-up oval studio portrait of Ole Everson Luten [as on the photograph backing; also written as Ole Everson on Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20, and on published rosters: Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1 (1886) and Wisconsin Volunteers (1914)], a private in H Company, 15th Wisconsin Infantry in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He held residence in Stoughton, Wisconsin. On November 26, 1861, he enlisted and on February 13, 1862, was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 18. On May 17, 1863, he was sent to a convalescent camp near Murfreesboro, Tennessee. On January 31, 1864, he was transferred to 68th Indiana Infantry at Maryville, Tennessee. He was mustered out of service with Company H, on February 13, 1865, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. On May 22, 1867, he received brevetted rank of captain for gallantry displayed by him during the battle at Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia on June 27, 1864. |
