Quarter-length studio portrait of Jacob Jacobson [as written on the photograph backing; also written as Jacob Jackson on Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 (“Blue Books”), published rosters: Rosters of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1 (1886) and Wisconsin Volunteers (1914)], a private in Company I, Wisconsin 15 Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in La Crosse, Wisconsin. On December 25, 1861, he enlisted in La Crosse, WI and on January 1, 1861 he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 20. On February 15, 1863, he was discharged from service due to hypertrophy of the heart on Island No. 10, Tennessee. |
