Paul M. Paulson Slatten
Waist-up oval studio portrait of Paul M. Paulson Slatten [as written on backing of photograph; also written as Paul M. Paulson on Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 and published rosters: Wisconsin Volunteers: War of the Rebellion (1914) and Rosters of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1 (1886)], a private in Company K, 15th Wisconsin Infantry in uniform and holding a musket across his chest. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Worth, Iowa. On December 10, 1861, he enlisted in Worth, Iowa and on February 11, 1862, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 19. In October 1862, he was detached on Provost Marshal Duty. On September 20, 1863, he was listed as missing-in-action during the fighting near Chickamauga, Georgia. It was discovered that he was captured and imprisoned in Richmond, Virginia where he died of disease in March 1864. |
