Title: Ole K. Flaaten [Ole Knudsen]
Description: Three-quarter length oval portrait of Ole K. Flaaten [as written on portrait; believed to possibly be Ole Knudsen], a private in Company A, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 45: He resided in Winneshiek, Iowa. On January 08, 1862, he enlisted in Winneshiek, Iowa and on January 27, 1862, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 24. He was listed as missing in action following the battle at Stone River, Tennessee on December 31, 1862. He was recovered by the regiment and sent to a convalescent camp near Murfreesboro, Tennessee on May 17, 1863. On November 17, 1863, he was discharged for disability at Chattanooga, Tennessee by order of General John Buford.
