Title: State Fair Centennial Mural Study Sketch
Description: Prior to the 1948 State Fair, artist Robert Hodgell traveled Wisconsin to study its many landscapes. He then produced a series of study sketches outlining the mural compositions. This is one of his original study sketches. The final canvas depicts men working in a hay field, and a pair of oxen hauling a load of goods. In the background, a village rises from the forest wilderness.
