Title: State Fair Centennial Mural Study Sketch
Description: Prior to the 1948 State Fair, artist Robert Hodgell traveled Wisconsin to study its many landscapes. He then produced a series of study sketches outlining the mural compositions. This is one of his original study sketches. The final canvas presents modern soil conservation practices like contour plowing and strip cropping. A row crop tractor, motor coach bus, and train demonstrate the modern technological advances of the time.
