Confederate Presidential Election Ballot
Confederate Presidential Election ballot. Jefferson Davis and Alex. H. Stephens were elected without opposition. The corrosion on the front is caused by the signature on the reverse. The signature is that of J.E. Nottingham, Jr. Voters that desired to select a straight party ticket would simply sign the back of the ballot and the election officials would place it on the appropriate spindle. Many of the ballots from this time period display a hole in the middle. |
