Title: On the Right of Our Line
Description: Gettysburg stereograph that Lucius Fairchild of the 2nd Wisconsin identified as "the right of the Union line." It shows the wooded terrain of Culp's Hill where the 2nd, 6th, and 7th Wisconsin regiments were positioned after experiencing fierce combat and severe losses on the first day of the battle. The individual in the picture is not a dead soldier, all of whom were buried, albeit hastily, by the time photographer Mathew Brady arrived in Gettysburg a few days after the battle. The man in the picture is Brady's assistant.
