Description: Portrait of John Henry Davis, taken by a fellow civil rights volunteer. "John Henry Davis, a most dedicated and brave freedom fighter, a warm personal friend of mine. We ate together, canvassed together and integrated the county courtroom of Hattiesburg. John Henry knows the meaning of police brutality — his two front teeth are still missing. Occasionally he would express frustration because people had difficulty understanding him."
