Title: Telegram to President Kennedy
Description: A telegram to President John F. Kennedy from James Farmer, the National Director of CORE (Congress of Racial Equality). The message reads, "Continued armed attacks on voter registration workers in Mississippi communities endanger the peace, security and reputation of the United States as well as the lives of these gallant workers. The Federal Government under your administration has encouraged the widest possible Extension of voter registration as an exercise of citizenship responsibilities. CORE demands that you protect those who accept your urgings. The Federal Government can not stand by while hoodlums defy our Constitution."
