Founded in 1984, MIPA exists today as a vibrant professional non-profit association that serves the upper Midwest independent publishing community and industry through education, networking and peer recognition. MIPA is proud to be a regional affiliate of the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA).

2006 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Distinguished Alumnus Award
WHS Author Richard Carlton Haney is the recent recipient of the UW-Whitewater Distinguished Alumnus Award for Professional Achievement. The award is presented to a graduate of UW-Whitewater who has exhibited distinguished professional, personal and career achievement, and is recognized for accomplishments in their field. Awards are presented at Founders Day every April.
