a) Drawing of Fort Winnebago in 1831. Juliette Kinzie traveled across much of eastern and southern Wisconsin. She prepared several drawings for her book, Wau-Bun. These valuable sketches, like her writing, tell us about the Wisconsin landscape before the great land rush by American and European settlers. WHi(x3)1895
b) Juliette Magill Kinzie WHi(x3)30186
c) In 1832, skilled workers came from as far away as St. Louis to build the Kinzie home that also served as the Indian Agency. Today it is known as the Old Indian Agency House. In 1934 the home, long neglected, was restored by the National Society of Colonial Dames in the state of Wisconsin. It is open to visitors. WHi(x3)50966
