A Teacher's Companion to
Remembering the Holocaust
Voices of the Wisconsin Past

Background | Knowledge | Comprehension | Application | Analysis, Synthesis, and Comprehension | Additional Resources

Analysis

After the class has had the opportunity to compile and review the outline from the comprehension activity, direct your students to conduct a student-led seminar aimed at identifying the most important themes in Remembering the Holocaust.

Synthesis

As the unit wraps up with a thorough discussion of Remembering the Holocaust and all other assigned reading materials, direct small groups of students to formulate an outline for a chapter in a European history textbook about the Holocaust.

Evaluation

Have students examine a European history textbook, reading the section dealing with the Holocaust. (Remind students to consider what they learned from the first-person accounts in Remembering the Holocaust.) Direct students to assess the historical content and interpretations presented in the textbook. This activity can also be done with a documentary or feature film.
