Digitization 101, a great blog run by Jill Hurst-Wahl mentions a nice article by George Wedding on CreativePro.com. George's articles, "The Darkroom Makes a Comeback" and "The Darkroom Makes a Comeback (Part 2)" outline the steps necessary to convert an everyday office into a workspace that promotes color accuracy.
The article discusses lighting, wall color, and other assorted tips and standards that will improve color accuracy in digital editing and printing. The digital lab at the Wisconsin Historical Society has been moving towards these standards over the last year, painting the walls gray, lowering the lighting, and attempting to reduce daylight glare (something that is hard to do with the large, wall length window on the east side of the room).
A must read for the serious home or workplace digital lab.
