Some Letters to Paul O. Husting Concerning the Present Crisis: Paul Husting was the first Wisconsin Senator to be elected by a direct vote of the people in November 1914. He served in the U.S. Senate until his death in hunting accident in 1917. While in office, Husting was a firm supporter of President Wilson, which cost him some support among Wisconsin's German population. These three letters, dating from 1915 to 1917, directly addresses many of the issues facing the country as it went to war. (29 pages)
