Usher, Ellis B. (Ellis Baker), 1852-1931 "Cyrus Woodman: a character sketch"

Cyrus Woodman: A Character Sketch: Cyrus Woodman was a lawyer, land agent, banker, and lumberman, who came to Mineral Point, Wisconsin in 1844 to operate the Helena shot tower and run a banking business. Woodman spent only 16 years in the West, primarily in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois, but as this article attests, he played a prominent role in Wisconsin's early development. (19 pages)
