Williams, Samuel M. "Micajah Terrell Williams--a sketch"

Micajah Terrell Williams - An Appreciation: Williams (1792-1844) was an engineer, and surveyor-general of the Northwest Territory. The latter position prompted him to speculate in western lands in the hope of founding a major city somewhere between Chicago and Green Bay. He helped underwrite the initial costs of Milwaukee founders Morgan Martin and Byron Kilbourn, and detailed early letters from both men are included in this biographical sketch. (10 pages)
