Gregory, John Goadby, 1856-; "Early Wisconsin editors"

Early Wisconsin Editors, part 1: This installment focuses on Harrison Reed (1813-1899), one-time publisher of the Milwaukee Sentinel (1838-1842) and an early editor of the Wisconsin State Journal (1858-1861). From 1843-1856 he was one of the founders of Neenah, where he also produced a newspaper. His outspoken articles criticizing corrupt state politicians, and some who were not so corrupt, forced him to leave the state during the Civil War, and he spent the remainder of his life in Washington, D.C., Alabama, and Florida, where he held minor public offices and ran newspapers.
