James Gates Percival: This biography includes a portrait as well as reviewing the life of the poet and geologist (1795-1856) who died in Hazel Green, Grant Co. It discusses Percival's literary activities in New England prior to his coming to Wisconsin in 1853, and includes substantial excerpts from his poems. It concludes with accounts by Wisconsin residents who knew him, an estimate of his scientific work as state geologist 1854-1856, and his eccentric personality. (15 pages)
