Inama, Adelbert "Documents: Letters of the Reverend Adelbert Inama, O. Praem"

Letters of Rev. Adelbart Inama, O. Praem, part 3: This installment of the Catholic missionary's letters describes the winter of 1843-1844 in Utica, N.Y., anti-Catholic violence in Philadelphia, and the intermarriage between Catholics and Protestants in the U.S. It summarizes his 1844 trip to the West and includes two letters written in his support, one by Milwaukee bishop Rev. John Martin Henni (1805-1881) and the other by Count Agoston Haraszthy (1812-1869). The author moved to Wisconsin in the fall of 1845, and the last letters given here contain his impressions of Milwaukee, the Wisconsin landscape, and Sauk Co., where he arrived at the end of the year.
