Documents: History of St. Nazianz: This is a partial translation of an 1867 pamphlet entitled "Geschichte der Entstehung und Grundung der Deutschen Colonie St. Nazianz, in der Grafschaft Manitowoc, im Staate Wisconsin... ("History of the Origin and Founding of the German Colony of St. Nazianz in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin..."). The text covers the years 1854-1866, and explains why the German immigrants left Baden, describes their transatlantic voyage and arrival in Milwaukee, and outlines what happened during each year they lived at St. Nazianz.
