Wik, Reynold M. "J. I. Case: some experiences of an early Wisconsin industrialist"

J. I. Case: Some Experiences of an Early Wisconsin Industrialist: The life of Jerome I. Case (1819-1891) of Racine, Wisconsin, an early builder of farm machinery, is chronicled in this article. Of particular interest are the experiences of the pioneer factory owner, the growth of a small business, difficulties selling to farmers whose income could vary depending on the harvest, early farm machinery (threshers and steam engines), travel and communication in early Wisconsin, and the sale of large farm machinery without the assistance of railroads to deliver the machinery.
