A Compelling Vision: H. H. Bennett and the Wisconsin Dells: This concise biography describes the career of Wisconsin's best-known photographer, H.H. Bennett (1843-1908). Using Bennett's unpublished letters and other primary documents, the author tells how he established himself in business, fought in the Civil War, became a leading promoter of Wisconsin Dells tourism, and documented the neaighboring Ho-Chunk Indians. The article is accompanied by a broad selection of Bennett's own photographs. (8 pages)
