Janik, Erika "Good morning, homemakers!"

Good morning, Homemakers!: This article discusses the WHA radio “Homemaker’s Program” which aired from 1926 to 1965. Home economics extension specialists were hired to run the program until Aline Hazard (1895-1981) became regular host in 1933. The show featured household advice, recipes, and tips for more efficient living. The author argues that the program attempted to transform rural women from farm producers into full-time homemakers and ideal consumers. (12 pages)
