Chan, Chris "Milwaukee's local color : the Journal, the Green Sheet, and its readers"

Milwaukee’s local color: the Journal, the Green Sheet, and its readers. Author Chris Chan looks at the Milwaukee Journal’s Green Sheet, which originated as a one-page insert 1n 1913 and continued until 1994. Included were such features as Ione Quinby Griggs’ advice column, which ran from 1935 until the mid-1980s, articles on a variety of topics, fiction and poetry, and humorous and satirical pieces by Gerald Kloss, When the Journal eliminated the Green Sheet in 1994, staff and the public complained, circulation plummeted, and the Journal merged with the Milwaukee Sentinel the following year. Over the years the Green Sheet was edited by Larry Lawrence, Wade Mosby, and Dan Chabot.
