Old World Wisconsin - a historic site

'Immigration' Field Trip, Old World Wisconsin | Wisconsin Historical Society

While exploring the Norwegian Area at Old World Wisconsin, students will:

  • Learn why people half a world away would pack their belongings into a trunk and leave their homeland to come to America.
  • Discover how hard-working immigrants transformed primitive homesteads into working farms by engaging in traditional activities such as carding wool.
  • Experience how a one-room school education taught children not only their ABCs, but how to be an American.
