Kathryn A. Gallagher, historian of the Madison Catholic deanery, looks over a State Journal clipping in the diocesan council's scrapbook of a memorable event in deanery history — Bishop O'Connor's garden party attended by over 1,000 women and their husbands. The organization was founded by the Catholic bishops of the United States to unite the endeavors and moral power of Catholic women's organizations. The Madison deanery was organized on March 30, 1954 by Bishop William P. O'Connor. |
