Gridiron Club Spring Dinner Menu
Menu, mounted on board, for the spring dinner of the Gridiron Club, with a cartoon by (Clifford K.?) Berryman of "Dr. Truman's Utopia Elixir: Relief for Everybody .... Except the Taxpayer": President Truman, in patterned three-piece suit and cowboy boots holds a cowboy hat and points to the elixir banner, while a donkey pulls a covered wagon filled with jugs labeled, "Education Aids," "Health Insurance," "Short Working Hours," and more, while "Veep" (Alben Barkley) in Native American robes and headdress beats a drum. Inscribed, "To Ray Henle King of the Briny deep and King of the Gridiron actors Richard L. Wilson." Another part of the menu has two monks tending a steaming kettle with gridirons. |
