Drawing
Opening Day Fishing Season
Imaginative pen-and-ink drawing of a large trout surrounded by a variety of insects, a fishing reel, and a fishing lure. This drawing appeared in the Wisconsin State Journal on May 2, 1980 with Sid's caption about what inspired the work when he decided to "dig up a few worms to go fishing. I went out in the backyard, looked at one square foot of ground and used my imagination." Some of the many depictions are of flowers, clocks, insects playing musical instruments, flowers with faces, and in the bottom right corner above Sid's authorship, a caterpillar carrying a fishing rod on its back. |
