Painting
Painting of a Gorilla Wrestling a Leopard
Theatrical scene depicting a gorilla standing on a small side stage holding up a top hat and looking towards an audience gathered in the foreground. Behind the gorilla is a large canvas stretched on a frame and illuminated by three green-shade lights; the canvas shows a painting of a gorilla bearing its teeth as it wrestles a leopard on its back that is biting the ape's arm in a jungle. The warm, bright colors of and the wildness presented in the painting contrasts sharply with the cold and dull colors of the suits of the viewers as well as their reserved and calm manner. The scene is presumably taking place at a circus. |
