Mrs. Field and Kittens

Mrs. Field and Kittens | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
A woman is sitting in a chair with three kittens on or near her lap. A number of home decorations and pieces of furniture are nearby, and a wooden church door is in the background. Caption reads: "Three kittens in the lap of Mrs. Marshall K. Field, 2412 E. Beverly Rd., Shorewood, upstaged a collection of wares which will be sold at the Strawberry Fair to be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 12. The fair will include an art and crafts show with 30 artists exhibiting and selling their wares and a 40 section Flea Market. Neighborhood merchants will also have booths. Bratwursts, hot dogs and corn will be roasted and, of course, strawberries will be served--with ice cream. The fair, to be held in the field north of the church, is being sponsored by the women of the church. Proceeds will go to St. Mark's. And the kittens will go to the person or persons who can't resist buying them."
