Progressive Party Returns
In 1934 the La Follette brothers, the sons of Senator Robert M. La Follette, Sr., broke with the Republican Party and founded the Progressive Party of Wisconsin. This photograph shows them listening to the returns from the first election after the break. The news was good for both brothers: Robert M. La Follette, Jr., was reelected to the U.S. Senate and Philip Fox La Follette was reelected governor of Wisconsin. |
